English
主播A:Good afternoon, everyone. Welcome to Echo Snippet. 主播B:School's been back two weeks now. Ever get that feeling — like you're running flat out every day? You still couldn't tell anyone where you've got to. 主播A:Honestly, yes — September's an odd month. The term has barely kicked off, and somehow you're already running on empty. 主播B:Today we're not here to tell you how to get more done. We want to talk about something smaller — how to slow down, and how to begin again. 主播A:First, a fact. Over the summer, your sleep, your pace, even your meal times ran on a different clock. Your body needs time to switch — nine times out of ten, that takes two to three weeks. 主播B:So if you don't feel "in the zone" yet, you're not lazy. Nothing's wrong with you. You're simply still switching. 主播A:Here's where plenty of people slip up. On day one they draw up a massive plan. Fifty new words a day, three kilometres a day, early nights every night. 主播B:Look, by day three it's fallen apart. Then they give themselves a hard time about it. Then they walk away from it altogether. 主播A:Psychology has a smarter take on this. It's called a micro-habit. Make the goal so small that you can't possibly fail. 主播B:Not "fifty words a day" — just "open the word list and learn one". 主播A:Look, it sounds almost silly. But it does one thing that really counts — it locks in a win every single day. 主播B:And it's small wins like that which build your confidence. Not one huge decision. 主播A:Second, that phrase "begin again". Plenty of people are scared of it. They failed once, so starting over feels like admitting they're no good. 主播B:The thing is, one person begins again every day. Another one won't. After a year, how far apart are they? 主播A:A tree in autumn doesn't refuse to grow leaves next year just because it dropped them last year. 主播B:One last thing, and then we'll let you go. You don't have to catch up with anyone. Just keep walking your own road. 主播A:That's all for today. Thanks for listening. See you next time. 主播B:See you next time. Take it slow. 读音提示:psychology /saɪˈkɒlədʒi/ 心理学 · micro-habit /ˈmaɪkrəʊ ˈhæbɪt/ 微习惯 · flat out /ˌflæt ˈaʊt/ 拼命地、开到最大 · running on empty /ˌrʌnɪŋ ɒn ˈempti/ 快没油了、累到见底 · slip up /slɪp ˈʌp/ 出错、疏忽 · odd /ɒd/ 奇怪的、反常的 | |
